HOWARD EDWARD McCULLAR, 96 of Paragould, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at Belle Meade Healthcare. He was born on October 11, 1916 in Nauvoo, Alabama; he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving two bronze stars in France. Mr. McCullar was raised Methodist, he was a farmer, a heavy equipment operator and worked until he was past 90 years of age. He was a member of the Union of Operating Engineers, American Legion and V.F.W. He enjoyed coffee, gardening and working with cattle and working on equipment repairs.
Survivors include his son: Gene(Sharran) McCullar of Paragould, two sisters, Viola Johnson of Paragould, Madie Stewart of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, three grandchildren, Brent(Laura) McCullar, Greg (Amber) McCullar, Chad McCullar and his girl friend Kelly, five great grandchildren: Gena, Lauren, Tyner, Graden, Addisen McCullar, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, F. C. and Martha Falls McCullar, his first wife, Sue Vaughn McCullar, his second wife, Janet Johnston McCullar, seven siblings, Eugene, Woodrow, Leonard McCullar, Eula Chambless, Trannie Davis, Estelle Wheeles and Louise Higgins.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Bryan Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the Mitchell Funeral Home.
